Registration Details

 

Registration Fee = $350 per team

 

Events:

1. Men’s Open Doubles

2. Mixed Doubles

3. Men’s Veteran Doubles (aged 45 and above as of 31 Dec 2018, meaning born in 1973 and earlier)

 

Team Composition:

- Each team should register a minimum of 4 to a maximum of 6 players, inclusive of 1 female player.

- Players are allowed to participate in a maximum of two events. Though such participants should note that the potential champions of each event will have to play six (6) matches in a six (6) hour period.

- Corporate teams of 4-6 members will submit the most one team to each event. The respective teams will compete in the events and the corporate team with the most wins from all events will win the tournament. See Rules and Regulations (coming soon) – Corporate Team Scoring for more details.

- Corporate teams may choose NOT to submit teams for any events if they are unable to get enough players for their corporate team. Such corporate teams’ chances of winning the tournament will be reduced.

- Companies may choose to submit multiple teams. For example, Superman Pte Ltd submits 3 corporate teams of 6 players each. There is no limit to how many corporate teams one company chooses to submit.

 

Tournament Format and Scoring:

Preliminary Round: Round-Robin

Quater-Finals: Single Knock-Out

Semi-Finals: Single Knock-Out

Finals: Single Knock-Out

 

Round-Robin: First to 21 points wins the game

Single Knock-Out: Best of 3 sets of 21 points wins the game

 

Tournament Schedule:

Time of play is subjected to change once the final draw is produced.

Tournament schedules WILL NOT be mailed to participants; participants will have to check the tournament board for updates of schedules.

 

Prize Money (per team):

Champion – $1,000

1st Runner Up – $800

2nd Runner Up – $400

 

Note: Prize money will be determined by organiser (U Sports) and may be reduced according to the number of entries.

Note:

*For Corporate teams, team members must be employees from the same company/parent company. Copies of players’ Employee Passes or equivalent must be presented during registration. Where it is discovered by the Organizing Committee, the teams with ineligible members will be disqualified immediately.

Other Important Information

 

1) Matters regarding the Competition

  • This event is organised by U Sports.
  • All players taking part in the competition will be deemed to have read and accepted the conditions under which the competitions events are to be conducted.
  • The Rules and Regulations for these championships are in accordance with Badminton World Federation (BWF) unless otherwise specified.
  • For your own safety, participants are advised to seek medical health and fitness clearance from medical professionals before competing in the games. The organizers shall not be responsible for any personal health and medical related incidents.
  • Late entries will not be accepted.
  • All matches will be played in accordance with the schedule of play. Postponement of any matches will be at
the Organising Committee’s discretion.
  • All players are required to bring along their photo identification documents & Staff Pass for verification on days of their matches.
  • Once entries have been accepted, no replacement/substitution of players will be entertained. However, the Organizing Committee, at its discretion, reserves the right to accept such changes if necessary and with valid reasons, so long as no match has been played by the player/s.
  • All players must report to the Official Registration Table at least 30 minutes before the scheduled time of their matches.
  • Players will be given a grace period of a maximum 5 minutes for all matches, failing which the player will concede a walkover for said match.
  • If both players fail to turn up, the match will be scratched.
  • Players shall wear non-marking shoes during the competition.
  • The decision of the umpires and officials shall be deemed as final.
  • Players shall comply with the instructions and decision of the event organisers and match officials.
  • Any protest must be made on the Official Protest Form on the actual event day. (Request from the registration counter) A non-refundable protest fee of $100 must be paid along with the protest form by the Captain/ Manager. The fee will only be refunded if the protest is valid.
  • The Organising Committee has the right to amend the rules & regulations prior to the commencement of the event.

 

2) Matters regarding registration and eligibility players

  • This tournament is opened to all Corporate Companies registered in Singapore.
  • National Players are not allowed to take part in U Games 17/18 Badminton – Corporate Team Event
  • Ex-National Players, who had left their respective National Sports Association (NSA) for a period of at least one year is eligible to participate in this tournament. 
  • Each player can only be registered for 01 team. 
  • Late submission of teams will not be accepted, subject to the final decision of the Organisers (i.e. U Sports)
  • Registration for the competition is only confirmed upon payment made with team registration form received.
  • Registration is based on first-come-first-served basis and will be closed once maximum number of slots is reached.
  • All participants MUST bring along their NRIC/ Passport and any form of staff identification pass on the day of competition for verification by the Officials before the competition starts.
  • Registration is non-refundable, in the event of cancellation/ no-show
  • The tournament requires a minimum of 8 participating teams to proceed. Organiser (i.e. U Sports) reserves the right to close or amend the tournament should the minimum number of teams requirement is not met.

 

 3) Safety matters

  • Captains/ Managers shall undertake the responsibility of ensuring the health and well-being of the players participating in this competition
  • Medics and ambulance will be deployed during event days.
  • Players are advised not to participate if they are feeling unwell. In such cases, please inform the event organiser (i.e. U Sports) and match officials immediately on the days of event.
